     doc. Ing. Michal Holubčík, PhD., has been the head of the Department of Power Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Žilina University in Žilina since 2021.

     He has been actively involved in teaching at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Žilina University, Department of Energy Engineering, since 2010, currently holding the position of professor. Throughout his tenure at the university, he has been responsible for teaching various subjects in the field of thermomechanics, energy sources and conversion, energy engineering, waste energy recovery, renewable energy sources, and energy efficiency enhancement. He has supervised 3 completed doctoral students and 2 doctoral students after their dissertation defense, as well as supervised 16 master's theses and 8 bachelor's theses. He is responsible for the bachelor's degree program in Energy and Environmental Engineering and co-responsible for the master's degree program in Environmental Engineering, the doctoral study program in Energy Machines and Equipment, and the field of habilitation and inaugural proceedings in Energy Machines and Equipment at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Žilina University in Žilina.

     In terms of his scientific research activities, he focuses primarily on optimizing the operation of solid fuel heat sources, emission reduction technologies, technical equipment for utilizing renewable energy sources, energy utilization of waste materials, design of energy machines and equipment, analysis of performance and emission parameters of small heat sources, and analysis of solid fuels. In these areas, he has authored or co-authored more than 300 publications, including 5 scientific monographs, 2 university textbooks, 27 articles indexed in the Current Contents Connect database, 86 articles indexed in the Web of Science database, 97 articles indexed in the SCOPUS database, 1 patent, and 3 utility models. He has received over 800 citations, with more than 400 citations indexed in the Web of Science database (H-index 11) and over 500 citations indexed in the SCOPUS database (h-index 12). He has extensive knowledge and experience in preparing and participating in domestic and international projects. He has been the principal investigator of 8 projects and has participated in more than 25 projects (APVV, VEGA, KEGA, Interreg).

     Throughout his career, he has undertaken several foreign internships and research stays. He collaborates with multiple universities and companies abroad and in Slovakia. He was awarded the Young Professional Award in Heating for the year 2018 by the Slovak Society for Environmental Engineering. He has continuously pursued further education, obtaining several certificates, including the Certificate in EMI Skills from Cambridge English, Certificate in InnoEnergy Fundamentals on batteries, Certificate in InnoEnergy Battery storage and the energy transition, Certificate in InnoEnergy Battery storage value chain, and Certificate in InnoEnergy Train The Trainer (Refreshed) - EIT InnoEnergy. He is a member of the Scientific Board of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Žilina University in Žilina, a member of the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Žilina University in Žilina, a supervisor in the doctoral study program Energy Machines and Equipment, SjF, ŽU in Žilina, and has served as chairman and member of various state examination committees. Since 2023, he has been the national expert of the Slovak Republic in the program committee "Climate, Energy, and Mobility".
