     doc. Ing. Michal Holubčík, PhD. has been the Vice-Dean for Research at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Žilina (SjF UNIZA) since 2024. From 2021 to 2024, he served as the Head of the Department of Power Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Žilina, where he has been working since 2010 and currently holds the position of Professor. Throughout his career, he has been responsible for and continues to teach various courses in the fields of thermomechanics, energy sources and transformations, power engineering, waste-to-energy conversion, renewable energy sources, and energy efficiency improvement. He has supervised three successfully completed PhD candidates, two PhD candidates post-dissertation defense, 16 master’s theses, and eight bachelor’s theses. He is the guarantor of the bachelor’s degree program in Energy and Environmental Engineering and co-guarantor of the master’s program in Environmental Engineering, the doctoral program in Energy Machines and Equipment, and the habilitation and inauguration procedures in Energy Machines and Equipment at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Žilina.

     In his research, he focuses primarily on optimizing the operation of solid fuel heat sources, emission reduction technologies, renewable energy utilization technologies, energy recovery from waste materials, the design of energy machines and equipment, performance and emission analysis of small heat sources, and the analysis of solid fuels. In these areas, he has published over 300 works, including five scientific monographs, two university textbooks, more than 30 articles indexed in the Current Contents Connect database, over 80 articles in the Web of Science database, over 100 articles in the SCOPUS database, one patent, and three utility models. His work has been cited more than 850 times, with over 450 citations indexed in the Web of Science (H-index 11) and over 550 in SCOPUS (H-index 13). He has extensive experience in preparing and implementing both domestic and international projects, having been the principal investigator on eight projects and participating in more than 25 projects, including APVV, EU, VEGA, KEGA, and Interreg.

     During his career, he has completed several international internships and research stays. He collaborates with various universities and companies both abroad and in Slovakia. In 2018, he received the Young Expert Award in Heating from the Slovak Society for Environmental Technology. He continues to pursue professional development, having earned several certificates, such as the Certificate in EMI Skills – Cambridge English, InnoEnergy Fundamentals on Batteries, InnoEnergy Battery Storage and the Energy Transition, InnoEnergy Battery Storage Value Chain, and InnoEnergy Train The Trainer (Refreshed) – EIT InnoEnergy. He is a member of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Žilina, was a member of the Faculty Academic Senate, supervises PhD students in the Energy Machines and Equipment program at SjF UNIZA, and has served as chairman and member of various state examination and other committees. Since 2023, he has been the national expert for the Slovak Republic in the "Climate, Energy, and Mobility" program committee.
